News Roundup

It’s the weekend, which means it’s time for another news roundup. While less busy than last week, we’ve seen some key stuff happening for a few bands, and I’ve had a cool experience as well. 

Firstly, Black Honey (an alt rock band from Brighton) who we spoke about last week as they introduced the AAA pass have shared their new single ‘Lemonade’ which comes along with a music video. A while ago, the band asked fans to comment with music video ideas and as a result the video incorporates several of these suggestions, including my own in the punk character Spike. Izzy even got a tattoo for the video, dedication! The song is a great way of rejecting the idea that we always have to work hard to overcome negative feelings, plus it’s really cool musically and continues to follow the band’s dirty guitar aesthetic. 

And secondly, there’s exciting things coming up for Boygenius who announced today that they’ll be appearing on Saturday Night Live on the 11th November. For those of you who remember Phoebe’s solo SNL performance you’ll know that it was particularly… smashing so it’s very exciting news that the band will be performing so soon. This comes just a few days before their Halloween performance at the Hollywood Bowl on Tuesday which is causing me a huge amount of FOMO right now. I look forward to seeing and hearing about it!
